Dear RRR Network Member,
| |
| February sees the start of the 2010 school year with mums all over WA having mixed feelings, whether it be their child’s first year at school or that all important Year 12.
Children’s education is so important in these progressive times with changes happening all too quickly. Today’s educators are saying that children starting school now will have jobs in our communities which haven’t even been created as yet. This is vital knowledge that we need to bear in mind when we, as parents, need to support our children in their future educational and career pathways, but still remember the importance of strong literacy and numeracy skills which are the basis of a sound education.
It also is a time for mothers in our communities to get back into their normal routines, whether it is in paid or volunteer work. Their contribution is a vital component for sustaining healthy and viable communities in rural, remote and regional WA.
