About The RRR Network
Background
The RRR Network was launched in 1996. We are jointly funded by the Department of Agriculture and Food and the Department of Regional Development and Lands. We have a Reference Group of 15 women ministerially appointed from throughout WA for a three year term.
Our main role is to provide a mechanism for networking, sharing and disseminating information relevant to the development of women and communities in rural, remote and regional WA. It continues to bring together RRR women from WA to recognise, promote and expand the contribution women make to their communities.
We provide a communication network through our Reference Group, magazine (9000 copies per edition), website and e-news. We encourage you to contribute articles, photographs, stories and other information to provide a wide view of all communities in WA.
Our logo
The RRR logo reflects the membership and purpose of our Network.
The boab is a distinctly Western Australian tree. It grows extremely well in harsh and isolated areas-a good symbol of strength in isolation. The branches of the tree form the network.
The boab also has a distinctly feminine shape. The feminine body stands firm with outstretched arms. Its flat pattern-like shapes are reminiscent of patchwork, which has long been a tradition with rural women. The colours are warm and rich and symbolic of the ocean and the land.
